Chargers Sign DT Ricardo Mathews

The San Diego Chargers announced the signing of DT Ricardo Mathews on Monday.

San Diego reportedly had some interest in signing veteran DT Kevin Vickerson, but it appears as though they preferred to go with Mathews.

Mathews, 27, spent the previous four years with the Indianapolis Colts, appearing in all 32 games in the 2012-2013 seasons, but only making six starts. He later signed a one-year contract with the Texans, but only lasted a few months before he was released.

Pro Football Focus ranked Mathews as the No. 42 defensive end in a 3-4 system out of 45 qualifying players.
