The Chargers announced the signing of first-round pick CB Jason Verrett on Thursday.
San Diego has now signed three of their six draft picks to four-year contracts. The remaining three players should have agreements in place by next week.
Verrett’s four-year deal is worth an estimated $7,889,002 and includes a signing bonus of $4,057,456, according to OverTheCap.com.
At TCU, Verrett totaled 160 tackles, 41 passes defensed, nine interceptions and a forced fumble over the course of three years.
The Chargers really needed to find some help at cornerback and Verrett could very well earn a starting job in training camp this year. It’s worth mentioning that Verrett is recovering from a torn labrum in his shoulder, and is expected to miss OTAs.
