Michael Gehlken of Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Chargers are signing veteran P Mat McBriar following a tryout on Tuesday.
- According to Gehlken, free agents punters Brian Moorman, Robert Malone and Zoltan Mesko also worked out the team.
This comes after P Mike Scifres took a hard hit from Patriots RB Brandon Bolden that left him corkscrewing in the air and ultimately landing directly on his shoulder.
Scifres reportedly underwent surgery on his broken clavicle Monday morning and there is a chance he could be back for the playoffs, assuming the Chargers are able to get in.
McBriar, 35, appeared in nine games for the Steelers last year.
