Chargers Sign RB Danny Woodhead To A Two-Year Extension

 

The Chargers announced Tuesday that they have signed RB Danny Woodhead to a two-year contract extension.

Danny is an integral part of our offense,” said General Manager Tom Telesco in a statement released by the team.  “His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year.  We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future.

Woodhead, 29, was entering the final year of his two-year, $3.5 million contract and was set to make $1.75 million for the 2014 season.

He came over from the Patriots last year and wound up being a very effective players for the Chargers’ offense.

In 2013, Woodhead ran for 406 yards on 106 carries while contributing another 605 yards receiving on 76 receptions and eight total touchdowns.

San Diego has now has Woodhead and Donald Brown under contract for the next few years, but former first-round pick Ryan Mathews will be a free agent next year.
