Chargers Sign WR Da’Ron Brown To Futures Deal

The Los Angeles Chargers officially signed WR Da’Ron Brown to a future/reserve contract on Wednesday.

Brown becomes the 8th player to sign a futures deal with the Chargers since their season ended. The full list includes:

  1. OT Brett Boyko (NFLTR)
  2. DB Randall Evans
  3. DB Michael Lee
  4. LB Chris McCain
  5. DB Adrian McDonald
  6. TE Jake McGee
  7. QB Michael Bercovici
  8. WR Da’Ron Brown

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Brown, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Chiefs back in May of last year. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to Kansas City’s practice squad.

The Chiefs elected to bring Brown back on a future/reserve contract this past January, but he was once again among roster cuts coming out of the preseason. The Patriots later signed Brown to a contract, only to cut him loose a few days later.

He signed on to the Giants’ practice squad in November before joining the Dolphins a month later. His practice squa contract just recently expired.

During his college career, Brown caught 155 passes for 2,295 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns while contributing another 160 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground.

Brown has yet to appear in an NFL game.
