Chargers Sign WR Griff Whalen, Place RB Danny Woodhead On I.R.

The San Diego Chargers announced Monday that they’ve signed WR Griff Whalen to a contract and placed RB Danny Woodhead on injured reserve with an ACL injury.

Whalen was clearly on the Chargers’ radar, as they brought him in for a workout just last week.

Whalen, 26, signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford back in 2012. He spent his enter career in Indianapolis before he was placed on injured reserve and later waived from the list back in January.

The Dolphins later signed him to a contract this past March only to cut him loose a few weeks ago.

In 2015, Whalen appeared in 14 games for the Colts and caught 19 passes for 205 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also contributed 244 kick return yards and 85 punt return yards for the Colts.
