Chargers Sign WR Jamaal Jones To Futures Deal

The Los Angeles Chargers officially signed WR Jamaal Jones to a future/reserve contract on Thursday.

Jones becomes the 9th player to sign a futures deal with the Chargers since their season ended. The full list includes:

  1. OT Brett Boyko (NFLTR)
  2. DB Randall Evans
  3. DB Michael Lee
  4. LB Chris McCain
  5. DB Adrian McDonald
  6. TE Jake McGee
  7. QB Michael Bercovici
  8. WR Da’Ron Brown
  9. WR Jamaal Jones

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Jones, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Montana back in May of last year. He was unfortunately waived with an injury designation at the start of the preseason and cut loose from their injured reserve list a week later.

During his four-year college career, Jones caught 184 passes for 3,021 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns over the course of 45 games.
