Chargers To Meet With Lovie Smith Friday & Ken Whisenhunt On Saturday

Kevin Acee of the Union Tribune San Diego reports that former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt will interview for the Chargers’ head-coaching vacancy following Lovie Smith’s interview with the team today.

Whisenhunt is schedule to meet with the Chargers executives on Saturday. Colts OC Bruce Arians is believed to be in the driver’s seat for the job, but things can obviously change quite quickly.

Both Whisenhunt and Smith figured to have a decent chance of finding another job despite the fact that they were released just over a week ago. Buffalo, Cleveland and Kansas City have all hired new coaches, leaving the Cardinals, Eagles, Bears and Chargers as the remaining jobs that are still available.

49ers OC Greg Roman, UCLA HC Jim Mora, Mike Holmgren and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer have also been linked to the Chargers job.
