Chargers & Vikings Working Out RB Troymaine Pope

Aaron Wilson reports that the Chargers and Vikings are set to host free agent RB Troymaine Pope separate workouts for at some point this week.

Pope tried out for the Texans on Tuesday but wasn’t signed to a contract.

Pope, 23, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

New York elected to cut Pope but he later signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad before getting promoted to the active roster.

Seattle re-signed Pope as an exclusive rights free agent back in April but waived him in May. The Colts then signed him to a contract a month later and added him to their practice squad at the start of the season.  in June, waived him, then signed him to their practice squad in September.

Indianapolis released him from the unit two days later.

In 2016, Pope appeared in four games for the Seahawks and rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for five yards receiving and no touchdowns.
