Chargers Waive LB Brock Hekking

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Chargers have placed LB Brock Hekking on waivers Tuesday.

Hekking, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.582 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada back in May of 2015. He’s currently in the second year of his rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Hekking will free up $465,000 of available cap space while creating $2,500 in dead money.

Unfortunately, Hekking has spent both of his first two years in the NFL on injured reserve and has yet to appear in an NFL game.
