Chargers Waive QB Bryn Renner To Make Room For Zach Mettenberger

The San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday that they’ve waived QB Bryn Renner to make room for Zach Mettenberger, who was claimed off waivers from the Titans.

Renner, 26, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina back in May of last year. However, he lasted just a few month in Denver before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season.

The Ravens later signed him to a future/reserve contract at the end of last season, but he was on and off of their practice squad during the 2015 season before signing on to the Titans’ practice squad in late December.

The Chargers signed him to a contract back in March to be their third-string quarterback, but he was unfortunately expendable now that they’ve brought in Mettenberger.

Renner has yet to appear in an NFL game.
