Chargers Waive RB Troymaine Pope

The Los Angeles Chargers announced Friday that they’ve waived RB Troymaine Pope to make room for K Nick Rose.

Pope, 24, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Pope has had brief stints with the Seahawks, Colts and Texans before signing on to the Chargers’ practice squad back in December before promoting him to their active roster a few weeks later.

In 2016, Pope appeared in four games for the Seahawks and rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for five yards receiving and no touchdowns.
