Chargers Waive WR Kevin Norwood From Practice, Sign LB James Burgess

The San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday that they’ve signed LB James Burgess to their practice squad and waived WR Kevin Norwood.

The Chargers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB James Burgess
  2. LB Deon King
  3. OT Brett Boyko
  4. S Adrian McDonald
  5. WR Dom Williams
  6. TE Jake McGee
  7. WR Isaiah Burse
  8. RB Andre Williams
  9. NT Ryan Carrethers
  10. DB Trovon Reed

Norwood, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2014. He was traded to the Panthers at the start of last season for a 2017 conditional seventh-round pick after Carolina lost Kelvin Benjamin for the season, due to a torn ACL.

The Panthers placed him on injured reserve coming out of the preseason and waived him over a month ago. He signed on with the Chargers a few weeks later.

Norwood was in the third year of his four-year, $2,640,108 rookie contract and was set to make base salaries of $600,000, and $690,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2015, Norwood was active for just one game but did not catch a single pass.
