Chargers Releasing OL D.J. Fluker

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Chargers are releasing former first-round OL D.J. Fluker on Tuesday.

Fluker began his career as an offensive tackle before moving to guard in recent years, so he offers some position versatility.

Fluker, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $11,402,498 contract before the Chargers elected to pick up his fifth-year option worth $8.821 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Fluker will free up $8,821,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Fluker appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 54 guard out of 72 qualifying players.
