Chargers Worked Out 6 Safeties Including Ed Reynolds

The Los Angeles Chargers brought in free agent safeties including Ed Reynolds for workouts on Tuesday, according to Howard Balzer.

The full list of tryouts for the Chargers includes:

  1. Robert Blanton
  2. Justin Currie
  3. Antone Exum
  4. Ed Reynolds
  5. Malik Smith
  6. Ahmad Thomas

Reynolds, 25, is a former fifth-round pick by the Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft. He bounced on and off Philadelphia’s practice squad before being signed by the Browns to their practice squad in September of 2016.

Cleveland eventually promoted him to their active roster, but later decided to waive him with an injury designation. The Browns would release Reynolds from injured reserve with an injury settlement less than a week later.

In 2016, Reynolds appeared in 10 games for the Browns and recorded 43 total tackles, one sack, and one pass defense.

Blanton, 27, is a former fifth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Vikings. He played out his rookie contract with the Vikings before signing a one-year, $840,000 deal with the Bills back in March of last year.

Blanton’s 2016 season came to an end after he was placed on injured reserve back in November. The Cowboys elected to cut Blanton loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

The Bills signed Blanton to a contract a few weeks ago, but he released soon after.

In 2017, Blanton has appeared in two games for the Bills and recorded three tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
