  • According to Gehlken, Allen is expected to make a full recovery.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing league sources, reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen underwent a kidney procedure – not a surgery – and could be out for remainder of the 2015 season.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Allen specifically has a lacerated kidney.

Chargers HC Mike McCoy announced Monday that Allen had kidney injury, and is “going to miss some time” with this injury, per Michael Gehlken. McCoy declined to after a timetable for when Allen could be back.

During Sunday’s game, Allen appeared to have sustained a shoulder injury, but it was later referred to as “back spasms.”

Allen suffered the injury during the second quarterback of Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, and never returned to the game.

Allen, 23, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.81 million rookie contract that included a $613,800 signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 over the remainder of the agreement.

This season, Allen has appeared in eight games and recorded 67 receptions for 725 yards receiving and four touchdowns for the Chargers.

We’ll have more regarding Allen’s injury as the news is available.
