Charles Woodson Now Open To Playing For Any Team

Free agent DB Charles Woodson told the NFL Network on Thursday that he’s now open to playing for any team as opposed to just contenders.

“When this process first started out, I needed to go to a contender,” Woodson said, via NFL.com. “I know I am toward the end of my career. At this point, I want to play football. So if it is a rebuilding stage, at this point if that is the circumstances I have to play under, then that is what I am going to do.”

Woodson was asked whether or not returning to Green Bay is an option for him.

“I don’t what to speculate on that. I haven’t heard anything from Green Bay. We parted our ways a couple of months ago. They told me they were moving and I guess I took that to mean that there was no opportunity to go back. I’m looking for a future with another organization.

Woodson, 36, did visit with the 49ers, but they elected to sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha and trade up for LSU S Eric Reid in the first-round of the draft, so their secondary appears to be set. NFL teams have been shying away from aging veteran’s this offseason, so even though there are a few teams in need of help at safety, it appears as though Woodson may not have an opportunity play this season.

We have Woodson listed as the No. 14 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
