Chiefs Bringing In RBs C.J. Anderson & Charcandrick West

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Kansas City Chiefs are bringing in free agent RB C.J. Anderson for a physical with the intention of signing him to a contract if he passes the exam.

This comes a few days after the Chiefs made the decision to waive RB Kareem Hunt after the video the February altercation with a woman surfaced on Friday.

The Chiefs turned to Spencer Ware and Damien Williams on Sunday to carry the workload, but it couldn’t hurt for them to add some depth at the position.

Anderson, 27, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Cal back in 2013. He signed a four-year, $18 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Dolphins as a restricted free agent during the 2016 offseason but the Broncos matched the deal.

Anderson was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Broncos released him during the offseason. The Panthers later signed him to a one-year contract, but released him a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Anderson has appeared in nine games for the Panthers and rushed for 104 yards on 24 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with one reception for 24 yards receiving and one touchdown.

West, 27, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Abilene Christian back in 2014. He returned to the Chiefs on an exclusive rights contract in 2016 before agreeing to a three-year, $4.2 million contract.

West was set to make a base salary of $1.45 million for the 2018 season when the Chiefs released him. The Jets signed him to a contract in August but waived him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.

In 2017, West appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 72 yards on 18 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 150 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
