Chiefs C Rodney Hudson Could $7M Per Year In Next Deal, Raiders Reportedly Interested

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Chiefs nearly reached an agreement with free agent C Rodney Hudson during the season that would have paid him $6M per year.

However, Hudson put together a very impressive season and is in a great position to cash in once free agency is open for business.

La Canfora expects Hudson to ultimately end up with a contract that would pay him $7 million per year, and he is hearing that the Raiders are “looking hard at him.”

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reported last week that the Chiefs met with Hudson’s representatives at the Combine and the two parties plan to continue talking in the coming weeks.

However, the Chiefs may have a difficult time getting him under contract and still addressing OLB Justin Houston before the start of free agency, due to their current cap situation.

On top of that, a number of teams could use a solid interior offensive lineman like Hudson. In fact, you could make the case that the Chargers, Broncos and Raiders could all use a guy like Hudson.

Hudson, 25, finished out his four-year, $3,506,100 rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this March.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 center in the league out of 41 qualifying players with solid rating across the board. We have Hudson listed as the No. 18 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

  1. Wiz is gone and he won’t be missed. He rated in the lower half of all centers and his run-blocking was very mediocre. What a steal for OAK if they can sign this guy away from KC.
