Chiefs Considering Trading Dwayne Bowe?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter offered a number of speculative trade options in his recent column but one idea in particular that stood out is the possibility that the Kansas City Chiefs could deal WR Dwayne Bowe to the Tennessee Titans who are in need of help at the wide receiver position after losing Kenny Britt for the season.

Kansas City invested a first-round pick in wide receiver Jon Baldwin and millions in free-agent wide receiver Steve Breaston. The Titans could use a replacement for Kenny Britt, along with some insurance in the event he encounters more legal issues.

The Titans have also been linked to Brandon Lloyd who is rumored to be available but Bowe could be another option in case that deal falls through.

  1. What, realistically, could Kansas City expect in return for Dwayne Bowe?  Could Chicago be in play for Bowe?  I know that the O-Line, CB, O-Line, Safety, O-Line, LB and possibly the O-Line are bigger needs for the Bears right now.  However, it would be tough to pass up on a big 27 year old WR that has been very productive throughout his entire career(minus the 2009 season).  Thoughts?

    • The idea is very interesting as the Bears were hoping that Roy Williams would have filled that role but Bowe is clearly five times better.

Bowe is worth a second-round pick but you have to consider that any team trading for him will only have him at most eleven games since he’ll be a free agent at the end of the year. This should impact the Chiefs asking price especially when you consider that the Rams just dealt a conditional sixth-round pick to Denver for Brandon Lloyd.

If that deal is the model, the Bears should expect to send a conditional fourth-round pick to Kansas City for Bowe. This is obviously speculative but it’s fun to talk about none the less.
