Chiefs Continuing To Push To Re-Sign OLB Tamba Hali

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Chiefs continue to push to re-sign OLB Tamba Hali before the start of free agency.

  • According to La Canfora, the two sides will meet later in the week to discuss a contract extension.
  • However, La Canfora adds that veteran pass rushers are in “big demand” this year.

It seems likely that Hali will be back in K.C. as long as they can come close to offering him a market value salary.

Hali, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2006. He has spent all 10 years of his NFL career in Kansas City and even took a $3 million pay cut to be back with the Chiefs last year.

In 2015, Hali appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 48 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
