Chiefs DB Ron Parker Reportedly Targeting $6M In Contract Talks

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star is hearing that Chiefs free agent DB Ron Parker is asking for roughly $6 million per year in his next contract.

  • Paylor adds that the Chiefs are continuing their talks with Parker’s representatives.

While I’m sure the Chiefs would like to retain Parker, they are in a tough cap situation and still need to address star outside linebacker Justin Houston at some point, so it won’t be easy for them to fit a contract like this into their books without some changes being made.

Falcons S William Moore is making $6 million per year in his five-year, $30 million contract, which including a $14,000,000 guaranteed, so this could be a comparison being used by Parker’s representatives.

Parker, 27, appeared in all 16 games last year and recorded 94 tackles, one sack, one interception, a forced fumble and 12 pass defenses for the Chiefs. Pro Football Focus has Parker rated as the No. 73 safety out of 87 qualifying players last year.

  1. $6 million a year for the 73rd best Safety … I think you could draft a rookie with a comp pick that would come in better than 73rd. Let him walk!
