Chiefs Decline OL Cameron Erving’s Fifth-Year Option

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, the Chiefs have decided to decline OL Cameron Erving‘s fifth-year option for the 2019 season.

The fifth-year option would have cost the Chiefs $9,625,000 for the 2019 season. However, this figure was guaranteed only for injury, so they could have still moved on if needed.

Erving, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Florida State by the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. He’s currently in the final year his four-year, $9.429 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,720,782 in 2018.

The Browns traded Erving to the Chiefs during the offseason of last year in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

In 2017, Ervin appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs and appeared in 276 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
