Chiefs Fire Todd Haley

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have made the decision to fire head coach Todd Haley following Sunday’s blowout loss to the New York Jets.

Kansas City is 5-8 and Haley did lead them to the playoffs last year with the team but the relationship between Scott Piolo and himself has been strained. This decision was rumored to be on it’s way for a number of weeks now but it seemed as though the team was going to allow him to finish out the season. Haley’s final record with the Chiefs is 19-27.

Todd helped this team in many valuable ways over the past three seasons, and I am thankful for his contributions,” said Scott Pioli. “Unfortunately, we have not been able to establish the kind of consistency we need to continue to build a strong foundation for the future and we believe a change is important at this time.

Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel will take over as the interim head coach.

Early speculation has Josh McDaniels as the favorite to be the Chiefs next head coach. McDaniels worked with Pioli and QB Matt Cassel while in New England so there would be some familiarity there.
