Chiefs Likely To Keep Both Dwayne Bowe & Brandon Carr?

Chiefs beat writer Bob Gretz writes that he can’t see the Kansas City Chiefs losing either one of their big-name free agents, Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Carr, during the offseason.

I can’t imagine how the Chiefs do not sign both players,” writes Gretz. “If they don’t, they are going to have to replace them in free agency or the NFL Draft, so it’s going to cost them money anyway.”

Great point by Gretz. The Chiefs have more cap room than any other team in the league so if they’re unwilling to lockup their own talent, than they’ll be forced to over pay their replacements which makes little sense.

The general consensus is that the Chiefs will try to get Carr locked up long-term and apply the franchise tag to Bowe. A contract extension could be possible for Bowe as they would have an extra few months to negotiate a deal but they wouldn’t have to do that.

We have Bowe listed as the #12 best available free agent in out Top 50 Free Agents list and Carr is listed at #34.
