Chiefs Making A “Strong Push” To Re-Sign CB Sean Smith

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs are making a “strong push” to re-sign free agent CB Sean Smith.

  • Peter King of MMQB.com reported earlier in the day that the Chiefs, 49ers and Raiders were all still in the running for Smith.

Last night, reports mentioned that the Raiders were likely to turn their attention to signing Smith after they lost out to the Giants for CB Janoris Jenkins.

Smith, 28, signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract that included $7.465 million guaranteed with the Chiefs back in 2013. He’s now in position to be one of the best available cornerbacks in this year’s market and should come away with a sizable contract.

In 2015, Smith recorded 35 tackles, two interceptions, and 12 pass defenses for the Chiefs over the course of 13 games.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
