Chiefs Met With Free Agent C Rodney Hudson’s Reps At Combine

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs met with the representatives for free agent C Rodney Hudson at the Combine this past weekend.

  • According to Paylor, the two parties plan to continue talking in the coming weeks.

The Chiefs may have a difficult time getting him under contract and still addressing OLB Justin Houston before the start of free agency, due to their current cap situation.

Paylor adds that he expects Hudson to secure upwards of $6 million per year in his next contract, which means the Chiefs will need to make some roster moves to have any chance of offering him that kind of money.

On top of that, a number of teams could use a solid interior offensive lineman like Hudson. In fact, you could make the case that the Chargers, Broncos and Raiders could all use a guy like Hudson.

Hudson, 25, finished out his four-year, $3,506,100 rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this March.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 center in the league out of 41 qualifying players with solid rating across the board. We have Hudson listed as the No. 20 player in our Top 75 Free Agents list.
