Chiefs Place RB Jamaal Charles On Season-Ending I.R.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced several roster move on Tuesday including that they’ve placed RB Jamaal Charles on season-ending injured reserve.

An MRI on Monday confirmed that Charles had sustained a torn ACL during Sunday’s loss to the Bears.

The Chiefs will give Charcandrick West and Knile Davis an opportunity to handle the workload moving forward.

Charles, 28, is in the second year of his four-year, $28 million contract that included $8.3 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $4.45 million (2015), $2.75 million (2016), and $3.75 million (2017) over the remainder of the contract.

Charles’ 2015 season ends with him rushing for 364 yards on 71 carries (5.1 YPC) to go along with 21 receptions for 177 yards receiving and five total touchdowns over the course of five games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 running back out of 58 qualifying players.
