Chiefs Place WR De’Anthony Thomas On IR, Promote S Leon McQuay

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday that they’ve placed WR De’Anthony Thomas on injured reserve and promoted S Leon McQuay to their active roster.

This comes just a day after the Chiefs announced that Thomas re-fractured his leg during a freak accident this week.

Thomas, 25, was taken in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Chiefs. He just finished his four-year, $2,665,108 rookie contract and was set to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Chiefs re-signed Thomas to a one-year contract this past March. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Thomas has appeared in five games for the Chiefs and rushed for 29 yards on three carries and scored one touchdown. He has also caught one pass for six yards and totaled 106 combined kick and punt return yards.
