Chiefs Promote Dave Toub To Assistant Head Coach

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that they’ve promoted special teams coordinator Dave Toub to assistant head coach.

Dave has had the opportunity to work with our team on both sides of the football, on the field and in the classroom,” Chiefs HC Andy Reid said. “His leadership qualities have entrusted me to promote him to Assistant Head Coach.”

Toub was expected to be a popular head-coaching candidate this offseason, but he found less interest than many expected.

Toub, 55, began his NFL coaching career with the Eagles back in 2001 as their special teams/quality control coach.

After a few years in Philadelphia, the Bears hired Toub as their special teams coordinator where he remained nine seasons. Andy Reid elected to bring in Toub to run his special teams unit in 2013.
