Chiefs Promote TE Orson Charles To Active Roster, Sign DL Mike Purcell To PS

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Tuesday that they’ve promoted TE Orson Charles to their active roster and signed DL Mike Purcell to their practice squad.

The Chiefs’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Gehrig Dieter
  2. S Leon McQuay
  3. RB George Atkinson
  4. DB Keith Reaser
  5. WR Marcus Kemp
  6. G Damien Mama
  7. WR Devin Lucien
  8. CB Will Redmond
  9. DT Rickey Hatley
  10. DL Mike Purcell

Charles, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He lasted just over two years in Cincinnati before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later signed on to the Titans’ practice squad.

The Saints gave him a shot the following year but he was cut loose at the start of the 2015 season. Charles signed on with the Lions last year, but was waived a few months into the regular season.

The Chiefs signed Chargers to a contract back in June only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason. He has been on and off of their practice squad this season.

In 2016, Charles has appeared in two games for the Lions but has yet to record a single statistic.
