Chiefs Re-Signing RB Knile Davis, Promote DL David King

According to Terez A. Paylor, the Chiefs have re-signed free agent RB Knile Davis and promoted DL David King to their active roster.

  • Kansas City also placed G Parker EhingerĀ (ACL) on injured reserve and waived OL Jordan Devey in corresponding roster moves.

Davis, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2013. Heā€™s in the final year if his four-year, $2.751 million rookie contractĀ and stands to make a base salary ofĀ $675,000 for the 2016 season.

The Chiefs traded Davis to the Packers in recent weeks for aĀ conditional 2018 seventh-round draft pick. However, Green Bay elected to cut him loose a few weeks later.

The Jets wound up claiming him off of waivers but they did so to have a contingency option in the event they couldnā€™t get a deal finalized with C.J. Spiller. After Spiller agreed to terms, the Jets waived Davis.

In 2016, Davis has appeared in six games and ran for three yards on six carries to go along with four receptions for 18 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Davis has also added 144 kick return yards.
