Chiefs Release ILB Sam Barrington

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Chiefs are releasing ILB Sam Barrington to make room for RB Bishop Sankey, who was signed off of the Patriots’ practice squad.

Barrington, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Packers back in 2013. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $2.209 million contract and set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

The Packers waived Barrington coming out of the preseason but he was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

In 2016, Barrington has been active for two games but has yet to record a statistic.
