Chiefs Fielding Trade Offers For RB Knile Davis

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Chiefs are currently in the process of fielding trade offers for RB Knile Davis.

This isn’t the first time someone has reported that Davis is on the trading block.

Shortly after the Chiefs have signed running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware to a contract extensions, Jason Cole of B/R reported that the Chiefs were working on a trade involving Davis.

However, this is the first we’ve seen about the possibility since then.

The Dolphins were mentioned as a potential option for Davis, given that they missed out on a number of running backs in free agency. Although, teams may prefer to see how things go in the draft before getting serious about a deal with the Chiefs.

Davis, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2013. He’s in the final year if his four-year, $2.751 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Davis would free up $700,000 in available cap space while creating $126,504 in dead money.

In 2015, Davis appeared in 14 games and ran for 72 yards on 28 carries (2.6 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 24 yards receiving and one touchdown. He also contributed 603 kick return yards.
