Chiefs Sign DT Cory Johnson To Practice Squad, Worked Out LB Khaseem Greene

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed DT Cory Johnson to their practice squad on Tuesday. This came after the Chiefs hosted Johnson and LB Khaseem Greene for workouts, according to Terez A. Paylor.

The Chiefs’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Frankie Hammond
  2. RB Darrin Reaves
  3. WR Seantavius Jones
  4. OT Joseph Cheek
  5. G Jordan Devey
  6. DB Jimmy Hall
  7. QB Joel Stave
  8. LB Earl Okine
  9. LB Darnell Sankey
  10. DT Cory Johnson

Johnson, 24, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky. Unfortunately, Atlanta decided to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit coming out of the preseason.

Johnson worked out for the Dolphins since becoming a free agent but was not signed to a contract.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his two-year college career, Johnson recorded 77 total tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two pass defenses.

Greene, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bears back in 2013. He was waived by Chicago shortly after this year’s NFL Draft but was later claimed by the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay wound up releasing him coming out of the preseason. He worked out for the Falcons back in October but was not signed to a contract.

In 2014, Greene appeared in 10 games for the Bears and recorded 17 tackles.
