Chiefs Sign OT Isaiah Battle To Futures Deal, Add DE David King To PS

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed OT Isaiah Battle to a future/reserve contract on Tuesday and added DL David King to their practice squad.

  • Chiefs placed LB Dadi Nicolas on injured reserve.
  • Chiefs released LB Darnell Sankey from their practice squad.

Battle, 23, became the first player taken in a Supplemental Draft since the Browns used a second-round pick on Josh Gordon back in 2012 when the Rams used a 2015 fifth-round pick on him.

He’s been on and off of the Rams’ practice squad since entering the NFL.

Battle played in 27 career games and started 11 contests last season while playing more snaps than any other Clemson player (824).

During his time at Clemson, Battle served a suspension in 2013 for punching a player, and another last season for disciplinary reasons. Battle was also pulled over for speeding in early June and caught with marijuana. He received citations for both incidents but wasn’t charged or arrested in either case.

King, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Philadelphia before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season. After brief stints with the Bengals and Seahawks, the Chiefs claimed him off of waivers back in November of last year and later brought him back on an exclusive rights contract.

King was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad and has been on and off of the squad this season.

In 2016, King has been active for one game but has yet to record a statistic.
