Chiefs Sign TE Ryan Taylor & Release G Ricky Henry

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed veteran TE Ryan Taylor to a contract on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

In order to make room for their new tight end, the Chiefs released G Ricky Henry.

Miami wound up signing Taylor to a contract back in February, but they parted ways with him a few weeks ago.

Taylor has been a regular special-teams contributor since entering the NFL. He appeared in 13 games this season, but never caught a single pass.

Henry, 27, Henry, 27, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent Nebraska back in 2011. He played briefly for the Saints before joining the Chiefs in August of 2013. Kansas City elected to sign him to a future/reserve contract in December of last year.

Henry hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2012 season when he was playing for the Saints.

  1. I don’t remember Alex Smith making any excuses last year. Just some of the fans gave good reasons for his performance last year. To win 9 games with one of the worst O-lines and the worst receiving core, says a lot about him.
