Chiefs Sign WRs Corey Washington & Robert Wheelwright, Cut Two

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday night that they’ve waived TE Emanuel Byrd and WR Antwan Goodley and signed WR Corey Washington and WR Robert Wheelwright.

Washington, 25, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Newberry back in May of 2014. He lasted just a few weeks with the Cardinals before he was waived and later claimed by the Giants.

After a year in New York, Washington had brief stints with the Redskins and Lions before signing on with the Falcons back in July of 2015. Unfortunately, he was among Atlanta’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Bills wound up signing him to their practice squad in October and Buffalo brought him back on a one-year deal this past March. However, he was cut loose just a few months later.

In 2014, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Giants and caught five passes for 52 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Goodley, 25, wound up signing on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor back in May of last year. However, he was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason.

Goodley later signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad towards the end of 2015 before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to their practice squad.

The Packers signed Goodley to a future/reserve contract this past January but waived him with an injury designation and later cut him loose in June. The Chiefs just signed him to a contract a few days ago.

Goodley has yet to appear in an NFL game.
