Chiefs Signing Veteran WR Mike Williams To A One-Year Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that veteran WR Mike Williams is signing a one-year contract with the Chiefs on Monday.

Williams actually worked out for the Bengals a few weeks ago, but they elected to go in a different direction at receiver. Before that, Williams worked out for the Patriots.

Williams, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract and later signed a six-year extension with the Bucs in July of 2013.

However, he had numerous off-the-field issues that led to the Buccaneers trading him to the Bills less than a year later for a sixth-round pick that later became Robert Herron. Buffalo elected to waive Williams towards the end of the 2014 season.

In 2014, Williams appeared in five games and caught eight passes for 142 yards receiving and a touchdown.
