Chiefs Place Starting RT Jeff Allen On Season-Ending I.R.

The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced Friday that starting RT Jeff Allen has been placed on season-ending injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that Chiefs starting right tackle Jeff Allen is undergoing elbow surgery and will most likely miss the remainder of the 2014 season.

The hits just keep coming for the Chiefs’ this season as they already dealing with a number injuries as well as some suspensions.

Veteran Ryan Harris would almost certainly be the next man up as the team has him listed as their backup right tackle on their most recent depth chart.

Allen, 24, is entering his third year in the NFL and has a base salary of $762,166 for the 2014 season. According to Pro Football Focus, Allen played 40 of the team’s snaps during their Week 1 game against the Titans. However, he posted a negative rating due in large part to his struggles in pass protection.
