Chiefs & Texans Previously Inquired About QB Matt Moore

According to Jeremy Fowler of the ESPN, the Chiefs and Texans both inquired about free agent QB Matt Moore early on in free agency.

However, Fowler says that Moore is considering waiting until after the season begins to sign with a new team, which will allow him to properly surveying quarterback landscape and determine which teams need help.

The Chiefs elected to sign Chad Henne and Matt McGloin in free agency, so they’re set in terms of a backup quarterback behind Patrick Mahomes.

As for the Texans, they decided to bring back Brandon Weeden and have also added Joe Webb and Stephen Morris in recent weeks.

Moore, 33, originally signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State back in 2007. He spent three years in Carolina before signing on with the Dolphins in 2011.

Moore played out the final year of his two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Dolphins and has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Moore appeared in four games for the Dolphins and completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 861 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions.
