Chiefs Tried Out RB Gus Johnson & DE Lawrence Okoye

Pro Football Talk reports that the Kansas City Chiefs recently brought in DE Lawrence Okoye, RB Gus Johnson, and DT Derrick Lott for tryouts.

Johnson, 22, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in May. He lasted just a few days with Oakland before he was waived and later signed on with the Cowboys.

Since then, Johnson has been on and off of the team’s practice squad before Dallas waived him earlier in the week.

During the preseason, Johnson ran for 139 yards on 37 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with two receptions for five yards and two total touchdowns over the course of four games.

Okoye, 24, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent back in 2013. He was considered to be a developmental project, seeing as he was a former rugby and track star.

Okoye spent a little over two years in San Francisco before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later added to the Cardinals practice squad.

Arizona parted ways with Okoye a few days ago, so this is the first reported interest in him since he became available.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
