Chiefs Waive OT Zach Sterup From Practice Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs have waived OT Zach Sterup from their practice squad on Tuesday, according to his agent Brett Tessler.

The Chiefs’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Frankie Hammond
  2. RB Darrin Reaves
  3. DL David King
  4. G Jarrod Pughsley
  5. WR Seantavius Jones
  6. DE Bobby Richardson
  7. RB Zac Brooks
  8. DT T.J. Barnes
  9. OT Joseph Cheek

Sterup, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Nebraska back in May but received an invite to participate in the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. The Chiefs later signed him to a three-year, $1.62 million contract.

Unfortunately, the Chiefs waived him coming out of the preseason and he’s been on and off of their practice squad this season.

It’s worth mentioning that Sterup was suspended in August for the first four games for violating the policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Sterup started 17 games for Nebraska during his college career.
