Chiefs Waive S Peni Vea, Sign Rookie DB Bryce Cheek

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that they’ve placed S Peni Vea on waivers and signed rookie DB Bryce Cheek.

The Chiefs just signed Vea to a contract a few days ago, so his stay in Kansas City was obviously short lived.

Vea wound up going undrafted out of UNLV over a month ago, so this will be his first opportunity with an NFL team.

During his four-year college career, Vea recorded 328 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, two recoveries and 11 pass defenses.

Cheek is an undrafted free agent out of Akron. This will be his first opportunity with an NFL team.

During his four-year college career, Cheek recorded 99 tackles, one tackle for a loss, an interception, two forced fumbles, two recoveries and seven pass defenses.
