Chiefs To Hold QB Competition This Week

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel confirmed that they are holding a competition this week to determine who their starting quarterback will be for Week 8’s game.

What I told them is I’m rotating the quarterbacks. They will get equal reps,” Crennel said, via the Associated Press. “Both of them will get work, and then we’ll evaluate it, and then next week we’ll get ready for game week, and then we’ll make a decision and go from there.”

Matt Cassel figures to be the odds on favorite to win the job, but I guess there’s a chance that Brady Quinn could walk away with the job. Either way, this just illustrates how bad things are going for the Chiefs on the offensive side of the ball. It’s no wonder that Dwayne Bowe reportedly wants out of Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel mentioned that QB’s Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn will split reps during the bye week to ultimately determine who will be their starting quarterback for Week 8’s game against the Raiders.

“I understand there is potential speculation,” coach Romeo Crennel said. “What-ifs and what-ands, but my stance is… both of them will get work. Then we’ll evaluate it. Next week, we’ll get ready for game week, and we’ll make a decision.”

According to ESPN’s Bill Williamson, Brady Quinn would have to “clearly outshine” Matt Cassel in order to earn the start.

This figures to be the case, as Quinn did very little during last weekends loss to the Buccaneers that would suggest that he’s capable of winning games. Quinn finished with 180 yards passing and two interceptions. Simply put; Cassel will most likely be under center following their bye week.
