Chiefs Worked Out 10 Players Including DT Montori Hughes & S Elijah Shumate

The Kansas City Chiefs worked out 10 players on Friday including S Elijah Shumate, K Devon Bell, WR Tre Houston, DT Montori Hughes, LB Deon Lacey, DE Terrell Lathan, TE Ryan Malleck, RB Will Ratelle, DB Jeff Richards and DB Julian Wilson.

Hughes, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Colts back in 2013. He lasted just over two years in Indianapolis before he was waived coming out of the preseason last year.

The Giants later signed him to their practice squad before being cut loose a few weeks ago. The Giants re-signed him a few weeks into the regular season only to cut him loose a few weeks ago.

In 2016, Hughes has been active for two games but has yet to record a statistic.

Shumate, 22, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in May. He was in the first year of his three-year, $1.62 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season when the Bucs waived him with an injury designation.

Shumate later cleared waivers and reverted to their injured reserve list before being cut loose with an injury settlement.

He has gained a large amount of interest since becoming a free agent and has worked out for the Raiders, Jets, Seahawks, and Jaguars up to this point.

During his college career, Shumate recorded 168 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
