Chiefs Worked Out 4 Players Including RBs Trent Richardson & Vick Ballard

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Chiefs brought in running backs Trent Richardson and Vick Ballard for workouts on Tuesday.

  • Adam Caplan adds that the Chiefs also worked out DE Rakim Cox and WR Marcus Johnson.

Richardson, 26, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Browns during the 2012 NFL draft. However, he lasted just over a year in Cleveland before he was traded to the Colts for a first-round pick.

The Raiders elected to sign him to a two-year, $3.85 million contract that included $600,000 guaranteed back in March last year only to release him during roster cuts.

Richardson worked out for the Ravens a few months ago, but had to get in shape before the team signed him to a one-year deal worth $675,000 a few months ago. However, he was waived soon after.

In 2014, he ran for 519 yards on 159 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 229 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 running back out of 57 qualifying players.
