Chiefs Working On A Trade Involving RB Knile Davis

Jason Cole of B/R is reporting that the Chiefs are working on a trade involving RB Knile Davis.

  • Terez A. Paylor confirms the report and adds that a trade has been in the works for a few weeks now.

This comes after the news that the Chiefs have signed running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware to a contract extensions on Thursday, so Davis is clearly no longer among their top-three options at the position.

For what it’s worth, the Miami Dolphins could be a team to keep an eye on for Davis, seeing as they could use some running back.

Davis, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2013. He’s in the final year if his four-year, $2.751 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Davis would free up $700,000 in available cap space while creating $126,504 in dead money.

In 2015, Davis appeared in 14 games and ran for 72 yards on 28 carries (2.6 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 24 yards receiving and one touchdown. He also contributed 603 kick return yards.
