Chris Johnson Expected To Be Back With The Titans In 2013

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Titans will retain RB Chris Johnson next season despite hisĀ $10 million base salary.

There’s been speculation that the Titans could cut him loose to not only free up some extra cap space, but to get out from under his six year deal worthĀ $55.26 million.

Johnson showed that he still possesses game-changing speed during last night’s win over the Jets, so it’s probably not the worst move for them to keep him. He’s never rushed for less 1,000 yards and currently averaging 4.8 yards-per-carry.

It seems likely that this topic will come up again in the coming years as he has base salaries of $8 million coming to him in 2014 and 2015. After that, he’s still owed another $7 million, but he’ll have to be continue producing at a Pro Bowl level to see all of this cash.
