No Progress Made During Titans Meeting With Chris Johnson

Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt  said “I’m not sure there was any progress made” in regards to today’s meeting with Chris Johnson and his representation, per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Reinfeldt added that he expects the two sides to continue negotiations in the coming days.

There’s plenty of work to be done regarding Johnson’s next contract.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets that RB Chris Johnson and the Tennessee Titans are not close to reaching an agreement and ending Johnson’s holdout.

The two sides will meet later today but Schefter mentions that  they “are not expected to be much closer by the end of the day. Stalemate continues.

This situation is looking like it could end up being another negotiation that comes down to the final hour before getting done. Getting closer to the start of season should add more urgency but Johnson and his representation are dug in on their stance so the Titans are going to have to get close to their asking price before any progress will be made.

Good news for Titans fans and fantasy football players alike . Chris Johnson tweeted that the he is flying to Nashville to meet with the Tennessee Titans.

Flying out to Nashville tonight to meet with Joel and the GM in the morning to see which way we’re going. Could get better or worse.”

The fact that they’re meeting a really positive sign as they hadn’t discussed a new contract in the last few weeks. If the Titans really want him in their backfield this season they’re going to have to getting working on a new deal.

Johnson is dug in by holding out past the cut off date and will not join the team unless a deal is done. His contract demands are known to be very high but he is one of the games most explosive players so it’s not as though they’re investing in just a good player.
